I’ll never forget hearing my doctor diagnose me with the autoimmune disease, Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, after many years of increasing health struggles and hitting my rock bottom.
I felt a surge of hope that FINALLY I held an answer, and could get my life back!
My hope lasted all of one minute until I heard words like…
No cure.
No medicine I could take to fix it.
Lifelong diagnosis.
Nothing I could do.
Wait.
Hold up.
Say what?!
No.
Please no.
At 36 years old, I felt willing to do just about anything to feel better.
Willing to do anything to:
not miss another of my son’s baseball games,
not have to put so much burden on my husband,
be able to do a mud run with my daughter again,
not have to rest after taking a shower,
and
not have to feel varying degrees of pain, anxiety, brain fog, fatigue, and fevers every single day.
I understood I’d have to live with my autoimmune disease label for the rest of my life.
But I refused to believe I’d have to live with my autoimmune disease symptoms for the rest of my life.
Then I heard about a way of eating specifically designed for those with autoimmune disease.
Despite my doctor telling me there was no proven diet to help my disease, I decided to try anyways.
I started overhauling my nutrition and my lifestyle choices.
I learned to eat and cook clean day in and day out.
I prioritized sleep.
I managed stress.
I started gently moving my body.
I discovered the therapeutic benefits of spending time in nature.
And so much more.
And I discovered…
food and lifestyle choices matter.
I am living proof.
What we eat matters.
How we live matters.
Finding JOY while learning to live with autoimmune disease is possible!
I remember feeling so alone both during my years of health struggles, at my diagnosis, and even as I started my wellness journey.
But I knew I must not be the only one.
So, I started speaking up and sharing my story.
You see, I felt determined to find you, and support you in your journey.

Spoiler alert: it is not going to be easy. In fact, it may be one of the hardest things you will ever do. But it will be 100% worth every effort!

When I am not geeking out over autoimmune wellness, you can find me out enjoying nature walks with my family, catching a restorative yoga class, cheering my son on at his baseball games, taking my daughter rock climbing, traveling to somewhere warm and sandy, playing with my two boxers, snowboarding, or snuggling up with any kind of book!
