AIP Quick Tips
Thereโs so much to remember when starting the autoimmune protocol (AIP) and it can feel overwhelming.
In this short and sweet article, I am bringing you a few of my basic AIP quick tips!
Focus on Foods to INCLUDE
๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐๐ ๐ผ๐ป ๐ณ๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐ ๐๐ผ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐น๐๐ฑ๐ฒ rather than fixating on foods to exclude.
At every meal, try to include a protein, healthy fat, and carbs in the form of veggies (see my free AIP foods download for a list of foods to include).
Try to change things up and get in a variety of AIP proteins, fats, veggies, and fruit.
Be Patient with Yourself
๐๐ฒ ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ต ๐๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ณโฆspoiler alert: youโre not going to get it perfectly right on the first try, and thatโs okay.
You wouldnโt expect a baby to learn to walk without falling after the first step, so give yourself a break, and please remember that learning the AIP nutrition and lifestyle is a process and takes time, patience, and self love.
Donโt give up the first time you fall.
Celebrate Every Little Victory
๐๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ ๐น๐ถ๐๐๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐. This is tough stuff and you deserve to celebrate yourself!
Tried a new veggie? ย Do a little victory dance!
Made a new recipe? ย Pat yourself on the back!
Did a deep breathing exercise to reduce stress? ย You go girl – take a luxurious bath!
Slept an extra hour? ย Tell yourself you rock!
You see, the little choices you make each day add up, so celebrate, celebrate, celebrate!
You are taking your health into your own hands and making steps to improve your life and find joy – own it!
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate
๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ต๐๐ฑ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ.
Water plays incredibly important rolls in the body!
Signs of even mild dehydration can look like autoimmune symptoms.
Aim to drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water each day (more if it is hot or you are active).
Drink most of your water apart from meals when possible, and try to sip throughout the day rather than guzzling a couple of times per day.
Keep in Mind AIP Lifestyle Factors
๐ฅ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฒ๐บ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐๐๐ฃ ๐น๐ถ๐ณ๐ฒ๐๐๐๐น๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ like sleep, stress, movement, reducing toxins, connection, and nature.
I regularly see autoimmune warriors with the best of intentions so focused on the food side of AIP that they are stressed out to the max and wondering why AIP isnโt workingโฆ
Uh, it isnโt working because youโre crazy stressed and being super hard on yourself.
